The Henry County Commission passed the 2015-2016 fiscal year budget on June 30th. This year’s budget is available for your review on the Henry County website. Since Henry County was subject to a property reappraisal by the Office of Property Assessment of the Comptroller’s Office, we are operating under a certified property tax rate of $2.0621. This rate is down from $2.197 for FY 14-15.
The county’s overall budget is $135,351,800 which also includes Henry County Medical Center. We invest approximately 58% of our property tax revenue in funding the Henry County Board of Education and the Paris Special School District. The school systems share this revenue based on the number of children that attend each system. The budget commits approximately 6.8 million in property tax revenue.
As we continue with our prime tourism season, Henry County benefitted tremendously from over two recent major bass fishing tournaments. Bassfest and the FLW All American tournament brought a huge number of visitors to our area. The tournaments have aired and will continue to air on ESPN and their related networks. This coverage brings a great deal of exposure to the beauty and quality of life that we enjoy in Henry County .
Economic growth continues to take place throughout Henry County with the area of Mineral Wells Avenue seeing the largest amount of new development.
On the industrial development front, McCartney Produce has started construction on its new facility in the City of Paris Industrial Park. We are anticipating another announcement from a local industry on their plans for a new facility in the very near future.
Perhaps, the most exciting thing to happen in Henry County is Ms. Hannah Robison winning the Miss Tennessee contest. We are so proud of Hannah and wish her the best in the Miss America Pageant in September. Good luck, Hannah!!!!
