The 2015-2016 Henry County property tax notices have been delivered to our taxpayers. The period to pay those taxes without penalty are from October 1st, 2015 until February 29th, 2016. Tax payments as well as any arrangements regarding these taxes may be made at the office of the Henry County Trustee in the Courthouse Annex building at 213 W. Washington Street.
With fall finally upon us, we can enjoy the pleasant weather for the next two months. Football season is in high gear for the Henry County Patriots and the Inman Blue Devils. Both squads are once again in the playoff hunt. Henry County is very fortunate to be represented by these groups of fine young athletes.
On the economic development front, McCartney Produce, LLC is progressing well in the construction of their new facility in the Paris Industrial Park on Highway 641 South. This industrial expansion is a tremendous boost to the economic viability of Henry County. Retail sales in Henry County continue to improve. The last quarter of retail sales hit an all-time high for our county.
We are very proud to announce that long time 3rd District Commissioner, Paul Mathenia, has been selected to represent the Tennessee County Commissioners Association as their president in fiscal year 2015-2016. Congratulations Paul on this great honor.
We congratulate Institutional Casework Incorporated on the relocation of their New York operation to Union City, Tennessee. This will provide an excellent regional boost in Northwest Tennessee. Also, we believe this will allow the headquarter office and plant in Paris to add some jobs in the near future. Any new jobs in Northwest Tennessee creates an economic boost for our entire region.
The Henry County Tourism Authority is continually involved in promotion of tourism events and are closing their most successful year in tourism promoters.
We are very fortunate to live in such a wonderful community where the quality of life is second to none. I welcome your thoughts and suggestions on way to further improve in the tremendous assets we already enjoy in our community. As always, our most important asset is our citizens.
