(PARIS, TN) Henry County Mayor Brent Greer has extended the county masking requirement order through Sunday, September 6th.According to Ron Watkins, Henry County Emergency Management Director, Governor Bill Lee signed Executive Order #59 this afternoon which continues to provide 89 rural Tennessee counties, including Henry County, the option to issue local masking re-quirements through September 30. Watkins said, “ The Henry County case rate is trending upward presently with 67 positive COVID-19 cases reported in the past seven days. Total active cases are at 169. As of this afternoon, Henry County Medical Center reported ten COVID-19 inpatients and two patients awaiting test results.”The Henry County Health Dept will continue to provide free testing Monday – Friday from 8:30AM to 10:30 AM by appointment only. Mayor Greer stated, “ I am concerned with the recent rise in positive cases. This shows how stubborn this virus is. Our local healthcare professionals believe masking is the best way to make a difference to reduce virus spread in the county. This gives our schools and businesses the best opportunity to remain open. Unless circumstances change, I plan to reissue this order every seven days through September 30 to coincide with Governor Bill Lee’s Executive Order 59. We continue to need the help of our community.”COUNTY OF HENRY.
