(PARIS, TN) Henry County Mayor Brent Greer has extended the county masking requirement order for another seven days.
According to Ron Watkins, Henry County Emergency Management Director, positive COVID-19 cases continue to climb with the latest active cases totaling 191. A total of 45 cases were reported this past weekend Friday – Sunday. Only two new positive cases were reported on Monday by the TN Dept of Health, which is a positive sign. The Henry County Health Dept continues to provide free testing Monday – Friday from 8:30AM to 10:30 AM by appointment only.
The masking requirement order issued last week went into effect on August 5 and expires tonight at 11:59. Mayor Greer stated, “With this extension for another seven days, hopefully we will see a reduction in the number of positive cases in our county. We continue to feel this is the best defense to keep our businesses operating normally and getting our schools back open on time. The extension is set to expire at 11:59 on Wednesday, August 19th, 2020.
The Chamber of Commerce continues the #MASKUPHC campaign and has seen 2000 masks go out to the community very rapidly last week. Another shipment of 8000 masks are expected this week and will be available at the Chamber office for persons needing a mask.
