[Enter Post Name]
In coordination with the Tennessee Emergency Management Agency (TEMA), the Henry County Emergency Management Agency is requesting community participation in the process of updating our Henry County Hazard Mitigation Plan. The current plan expires May 2024.
The approval of the Henry County Hazard Mitigation Plan allows for local government agencies, school systems, and non-profits to apply for substantial Hazard Mitigation Grants through the Tennessee Emergency Management Agency. In order to be eligible to apply for the grant, the Federal Emergency Management Agency requires the participation of attendees that are representatives of our community, local government entities, minority populations, and non-profits.
FEMA is asking for representation of underserved and vulnerable populations across the county. We are asking our community partners if the work with the underserved, to please consider attending.
This meeting will be the second required meeting in the update process and will include adding any new hazard mitigation projects.
In the past, Henry County has received funding for tornado safe shelters in both school systems. Other eligible projects could include land acquisition in flood hazard areas, construction of community safe rooms, earthquake mitigation projects, historical building preservation, outdoor warning sirens, weather radios, and infrastructure projects to mitigate against flooding or earthquake damage.
Local governments and school systems are encouraged to participate and adopt the updated plan to remain eligible to apply for possible future hazard mitigation grants.
Henry County Emergency Management Agency invites you and your agency or organization to attend this meeting.
The meeting will be held on Tuesday, February 13th, 2024 at 1:30 p.m. The meeting space is located at the EMA office at 204 N. Brewer St. in Paris. Please plan to attend or send representation from your agency/organization this meeting.
